Vhotel:Kwa* S. 2011-08-06 Their friendly service is first class i booked my parents into guangdong victory hotel, and it was the best decision ever. the hotel is clean, friendly and based in a convenient area. totally love it!
Janet P. 2011-08-07 We arrived at 7am and they let us check into our room straight away ,which was a god-send having just got off a night train. they allowed us to check in at 7am which was great. we weren't given the double room that we reserved, but a twin instead. however we were too tired to argue! the hotel is very expensive for services such as internet, laundry, massage (lots of extras added to bills but not explained). the main problem was the restaurants. although the hotel claimed to have four, only one was open and half of the items on the menu weren't available! room service was efficient but expensive and breakfast was a complete rip-off, as you have to pay for a full buffet even if you only wanted a coffee. the hotel was comfortable, had a pool and was quiet but overall we felt ripped-off.
Do* 2011-07-29 Hotel is very good. For the price it is a great value. Located on Sha Main Island gives it an uncrowded (rare) locale from which to base and see the city. It is less than 1/2 mile from the Line 1 HongSha Metro stop which gives great access to explore Guangzhou. Although plentiful and cheap metered cabs are available to go from place to place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Language is a slight problem, but patience on your part usually gets someone with enough English skills to communicate and get what you needed done. Staff was also very helpful with non-hotel recommendations (where and how to get a sim card for your cell phone, best bank to exchange for RMB). Wifi exists, but is iffy on floors 3 and above. It is slow, but it was slow everywhere else I visited in China, even Hong Kong.
