Vhotel:Rebec** L. 2011-10-22 It was a nice experience for a romantic stay. The island on which the hotel is located is near to the main Guangzhou city yet away from the noise and pollution. It has a laid-back feel to it and is ideal for either business travellers or honeymoon couples. The staff spoke good English and was very helpful. Room is clean and spacious and has good facilities. The swimming pool on roof top was closed though due to bad weather.

Cra** M 2011-10-27 We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and loved every minute of it. It was in a great location and you could walk to many things including, laundry, photo shop, souvenirs restaurants and the Pearl river which is wonderful at night. They treated us very nicely and always opened the door for you when you left. They helped us find things in the area and got us a cab when we needed one. If you are adopting this is a great alternative to the White Swan which is more pricier. Play room for kids and free tea and pringles from 3-4pm. Overall great rooms for the price and we would stay here again.
Thi** H. 2011-10-29 Very relaxing environment in this remarkable old building. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The girl taking care of the swimming pool is very knowledgable about the history and the surrounding of the hotel. However, the procedure of the hotel makes check in and check out very time consuming. One more thing is they charge everything in the room, even for those they may not necessary label them well. For example, they charge RMB25 for the laundry bag (which has no price tag) I took to pack my dirty clothes.
cathy*** 2011-11-01 We recently stayed here while in Guangzhou for the Canton Fair. The hotel is in a lovely location, very quiet and peaceful, nice trees and parks and close to some good restaurants. We stayed on the 7th floor of the East building and had a corner room. The room was old and in need of refurbishment but we found it very comfortable for our stay. Being a corner room we had windows on two walls which meant lots of light and views from two windows. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel but had a lovely dim sum for lunch which we would highly recommend. We had one dinner at the hotel which was nice but the meals were not huge if you are a big eater. There are a variety of restaurants within walking distance and there is no problem walking around the area at night. The organization here for the Canton fair was excellent. You could register in the lobby of the hotel and there were free shuttle buses in the morning and late afternoon. The hotel also provided bottles of water when you got on the bus. We found the staff very helpful and the housekeeping the most efficient of any hotel we have stayed in. If you ring for something, someone from house keeping is practically there before you hang up the phone. If only all hotels were like that! The only gripe I have about the hotel is the 'girls' working out of the hair salon. I noticed someone else has also commented on this. The salon is right next to the lift and you have to pass by it to get to the lifts. There are usually 3 or 4 'girls' sitting on a lounge in the doorway of the salon who will play up to any man that walks by. We were utterly amazed to see this going on so openly in a "respectable" hotel and I was not amused that they also played up to my husband in my presence. That is something you would expect out on the streets. In the rooms they had rules of the hotel, one of which was no prostitution or soliciting, maybe management should read the rules. But if this does not worry you the hotel is a good place to say. As I said the girls were the only fault we found with the hotel.
